ታሪክና ምሳሌ

ፀሐይ በቆሻሻ ላይ ብታልፍም አትቆሽሽም::

The sun passes over filth and is not defiled.

የእሾህ ጫፍ ትንሽ ነው:: የነካው ግን አይረሳውም::

The point of the thorn is small but he who has felt it does not forget it.

አይናቸውን የከደኑ ሁሉ አልተኙም::

Not all are asleep who have their eyes shut.

ወደ ሮም ብዙ መንገዶች አሉ::

There are many roads to Rome.

እራሱን እርግብ ያደረገ በሲላ ይበላል::

He who makes himself a dove is eaten by the hawk.

አንድ ጫማ ለሁሉም እግር ልክ አይሆንም::

The same shoe does not fit every foot.

ለቤተክርስትያን የቀረበ ከእግዚአብሔር የራቀ::

Near the church,far from God.

የአንድ ሽማግሌ ሰው አካል የጊዜ መቁጠሪያ ነው::

An old man hath the almanac in his body.

የማይመርዝ ያወፍራ::

what does not poison,fattens.

እራሱን የሚያሞግስ እራሱን ያቆሽሻል::

He who praises himself befouls himself.
